Accessibility
This site is for everyone.
What we built, how we test it, where we stand, and how to tell us.
Where we stand
pulla.org is designed and built to WCAG 2.2 (opens in a new tab) level AA, and every page passes the automated and keyboard tests below. It has not yet been verified with assistive technology by hand: a VoiceOver pass on macOS Safari and on iPhone is next, and we will not call the site conformant until it is done. This page will carry the date and the results.
Built in
- Semantic HTML, landmarks, one heading hierarchy per page, a skip link.
- Keyboard for everything, in order, with a visible focus outline. The carousel follows the WAI-ARIA tabbed pattern, and every step is reachable without it.
- Contrast of at least 4.5:1 on every background, 3:1 for large text and controls. Nothing is conveyed by color or motion alone.
- Every target is at least 24 pixels, except links inside sentences, which follow the line height (the WCAG 2.5.8 exception). Menu items and the main buttons are 44 pixels or taller; the table's More buttons are 32 (44 on touch screens) and the Animation control is 36.
- Links that leave pulla.org open in a new tab and say so: a small icon on text links, and "opens in a new tab" for screen readers (the App Store badge carries it in its label). Links inside the Privacy Policy and the Terms are left as written.
- Alternative text on meaningful images; decorative ones hidden.
- Reflows from 320 pixels and at 200 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Animation respects your system's reduced-motion setting. The Animation control in the footer overrides it either way and is remembered. It is small on purpose, but it is on every page: people who get dizzy from motion need a way to stop it (WCAG 2.2.2), whatever their system setting. Nothing autoplays with sound, nothing flashes, and page transitions switch off with it.
- Self-hosted fonts with system fallbacks; text can be resized and respaced.
- No cookies, trackers or scripts from other companies.
How we test
Before each release, on every page: axe-core and pa11y against the WCAG 2.2 AA rules; a scripted keyboard pass that records every focus stop and its visible outline, including the carousel, every accordion and the expandable table rows; a review of each page's accessibility tree (names, roles, headings, landmark order, Tab order); contrast measured for every text and background pairing; reflow at 320 pixels and 200 percent zoom; everything readable and the menu open with JavaScript off; no animation under reduced motion. Last run 16 October 2026, in Chromium. Four independent reviews (design, accessibility, truth, and the owner's checklist) followed, and their findings were fixed or recorded.
Known limitations
- Not yet tested by hand with a screen reader (see above).
- One dark theme. The site follows Windows high contrast and forced colors, but does not offer a light theme yet.
- The early-access form (Google Forms) and the App Store listing are other companies' pages.
- This statement covers pulla.org, not the push! app. Report app issues to the same address.
